1934-39 Educated at Steyning Grammar School

1939-40 Educated at Reigate Grammar School

1941 First employment as Clerk at Midland Bank Head Office, London. Invited to join the bank concert party "the Venturers" as Compere, providing evening entertainments around London area, mostly at anti-aircraft sites, Chatham Naval Base etc.

1942-47 Enlisted with the Middlesex Regiment, August 1942. Purchased a secondhand guitar and teamed up with Cpl. Fred Pearce to form second duo act "Fred & Pete" with accordion and guitar, entertaining troops and their partners, particularly at The Oddfellows, Hastings prior to the Normandy invasion. Embarked for France on D-Day +7, but landed D +12, due to storms and a defective ship, but with guitar (taken at the request of the Commanding Officer).

1948-59 Employed by Crusader Insurance Company, Reigate and became Chief Clerk then Re-insurance Accounts Manager

1948-62 Formed "The Clef Quintet", a semi-professional bance band, playing at hotels and dance halls in Surrey and functions in London including the Park Lane Hotel, Piccadilly.

1952 Peter married Jennifer on 9th August, in Reigate, Surrey

1959 Joined Coronet Enterprises, Bruton Street, London W1 and managed groups of The Bill Shepherd Singers for productions at the London Palladium and provincial theatres

1960 Commenced professional songwriting, mainly lyrics also using pseudonyms of Steve Peters and Partridge Green. Over 85 songs recorded, resulting in over 115 commercially recorded issues

1961 Joined Lorna Music Co Ltd, 5 Denmark Street, London WC2 as Copyright & Royalty Manager, and later General & Professional Manager after Leslie Lowe left the company
